Sri Dheerendra Tirtha, a great pandit, was the poorvashrama son of Sri Vadeendra Tirtharu. Initially, Sri Jayaramacharya, also known as Sri Dheerendra Tirtha, was not interested in sanyasa. He toured the country for dharma prachara, paata, pravachana, etc. Sri Vadheendra Tirtha repeatedly advised him to embrace sanyasa and develop vairagya.
Sri Vasudhendra Tirtharu, who took ashrama from Sri Vadheendra Tirtha, understood his guru's desire for Sri Jayaramacharya to become a sanyasi. However, during Sri Varadendra Tirtharu's vrundavana pravesha, Sri Jayaramacharya was on tour and could not be informed, so he was not given the ashrama.
Sri Vasudhendra Tirtharu gave ashrama to Sri Varadendra Tirtharu in 1761 and publicly announced Sri Jayaramacharya as his uttaradhikari during a tour in Pune. Unfortunately, during Sri Varadendra Tirtha’s vrundavana pravesha, Sri Jayaramacharya was again on tour, so he initiated sanyasa to his poorvashrama brother Sri Lakshminarayanacharya, naming him Sri Bhuvanendra Tirtha.
Sri Bhuvanendra Tirtharu was instructed by Sri Vadheendra Tirtharu to ensure Sri Dheerendra Tirtharu became a sanyasi. However, when Sri Bhuvanendra Tirtharu returned, Sri Jayaramacharya had already taken sanyasa in front of Sri Vijayeendra Tirtharu at Kumbakonam.
Sri Dheerendra Tirtharu then settled in Ritti, a Lingayat province, where Sri Jagannatha Dasaru and Sri Satyabodha Tirtharu frequently visited him. It is said that Sri Jagannatha Dasaru composed Harikathamruthasara at Ritti in Sri Dheerendra Tirtharu's presence.
Sri Dheerendra Tirtharu was blessed by Sri Rayaru and continued to bless many even after his vrundavana pravesha in Ritti. He wrote several Granthas, including NarayanOpanishat Vyakyana, Yajnikopanishat Vyakyana, Vishayavakya sangraha, Manyusooktha Vyakyana, AmbhruNIsooktha Vyakyana, GuruguNastavana Vyakyana, Balitta sooktha Vyakyana, Sri Raghavendra Stotra Vyakyana, and Karakavaadaartha.
